Final Paintings

Below are my final two paintings for the Studio Escalier summer intensive. I'm quite excited about them in that they reflect the understanding of certain principles I've been trying to organize and put into practice for several years. I look forward to the fall intensive, which is all painting. There also many Arthur Machen illustrations a'brewin' in the pot, so be on the look out for those in the coming weeks. Take care, friends.

And now, the paintings...

Finally!

hey guys---

here's another image for the arthur machen book. i have some more images from class to upload, but i'm having a lot of difficulty configuring them to fit the blog, so they'll have to wait. anyways, this is a redo of the other bacchanal shown below. this new image is far more coherent, and is easily one of the more active compositions i've ever drawn.`much more work is underway. and now, a page from the journal of poor arthur meyrick...

silet per diem universus, nec sine horrore secretus est; lucet
nocturnis ignibus, chorus aegipanum undique personatur: audiuntur
et cantus tibiarum, et tinnitus cymbalorum per oram maritimam.

Images for Arthur Machen Book

Okay---I finally figured out how to properly format these images, and I am happy to share with you all, the first of many, many drawings and paintings inspired by the literary work of Arthur Machen, my favorite writer of all time. As fate would have it, I have been commissioned by the one and only Centipede Press to profusely illustrate a major volume of Machen's work, and I can ask for no greater honor. Much more information on this project to follow...
